Dear Friends,

During a speaking engagement, a senior approached me. "I don't know what God wants me to do with my life," he sighed. "I need to talk to you."

He was a gifted person and could have pursued a career in several fields. I shared with him briefly how he could discover God's will for his life according to Scripture, and then hurried off to another appointment.

When he approached me later that afternoon, he was excited. "The biblical formula you gave me works! Not only has God revealed what He wants me to do, but He has shown me the organization with which He wants me to be associated!"

One day as we were talking about the need for funds for a particular work in Africa, I felt that we as an organization should seek to raise the money for the project. Then this same man volunteered to provide for the ministry out of his personal income. "We have discovered that the more we give to God, the more He blesses us," he said.

Now he is a missionary, and is pouring out his heart for materially needy and spiritually hungry people. One would hardly expect him to give more, but he learned to take God at His word and give generously by faith, trusting Him to provide for their personal needs to enable them to help meet the needs of others.

Over 25 years ago one of our co-workers was praying and meditating about his responsibilities as a steward. "Lord," he said, "I know the tithe is ten percent of my income, but how much should I give above my tithe?" The response was immediate and unmistakable, "How much can you trust Me to supply?"

During a missions convention at his church, this co-worker decided to put this to the test by pledging a sacrificial amount. Each month for the next year God faithfully supplied the finances for the pledge. Every year thereafter the staff member has increased his missions giving, and always our Lord has met the need.

One of the greatest discoveries that I have made in my walk with the Lord Jesus has been the privilege of taking God at His word and do the work He gave me to do, trusting Him to supply. My experience and observation have been that those who follow biblical principles for giving experience God's abundant supply.
