Daily Bread - Your devotional by e-mail

I have learned to be content

in whatever circumstances I am

Philippians 4:11

the subject for today is:

Living above life's circumstances

Dear Friends,

·      Some of us tend to assume that it is God's will if the circumstances are favorable and it isn't God's will if the circumstances are unfavorable.

·        Others believe that both favorable and unfavorable circumstances are the will of God.

And both groups connect their conclusions to it.

I believe that God’s will for us, is to have favorable circumstances, but... for some reasons, sometimes only known to Him, and sometimes clearly to teach us a lesson, He will also allow unfavorable circumstances in our lives.

Once I had the privilege of helping a church to purchase a lot to build on it a new building. We went through a process of which some circumstances at first didn't seem favorable. Twice I sat with the mayor, and asked him if he thought our plans were possible. He advised us to make the land trade, and he told me the city would allow us to build there. He knew the real estate better than anyone in the city, but forgot to tell me it was a hillside of over 50%. This looked negative at first, but in the end we could sell the ground which helped to pay for the building.

Circumstances may have their effect on your plans, but they should not lead your plans. You have a far greater accountability to God then to your circumstances. Always make sure you follow Him, not your circumstances.

I heard a motivational speaker say, "I don't like to recruit Christians because when the going gets tough they quit, concluding that it must not be God's will."  Generally speaking, I believe that Christians should live above life's circumstances and not be guided by them.

Also be careful about applying too much significance to unusual circumstances or coincidences. “The stain in the carpet must be God’s will, why else would he have tipped the cup over”  Some things may be God's will, but I would never take that kind of a sign on its own merit. Many people in occult bondage have made bizarre associations or attached far too much significance to irrelevant events.

Prayer:

Lord, I determine to test all guidance by Your Word and not to be swayed away from Your will by circumstances or popular opinion.

A big interactive site with over 10 domains, news systems, newsletters, forums, web- polls, etc. pity enough costs a lot of money.

The reason why we although we have to live on social welfare, still do this, is because we are sure that hundreds of people are blessed by what we are doing on the internet. It is not by accident that we had now already over half a million visitors on our sites.

To do this all we are completely depending on God’s grace, and because of your donations we can afford to continue. Therefore we also ask you to see if you could help us to keep this internet activity alive. Thanks in advance for your support!
