Don't worry about anything

Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

the subject for today is:

A Personal Tragedy

Dear Friends,

Lucy, a single Christian mother, was broken-hearted. Earlier in the week she had received a call from the high school principal. He had informed her that her daughter had been cutting classes. She was surprised by the call - her daughter had not been ill. Where had she been?

She recalled a change in her daughter's behavior in past months and she had become suspicious. Was her daughter on drugs? Nervously, she searched her room looking for possible clues to the problem. To her dismay, she found marijuana cigarettes hidden among the girl's things.

Sinking to the floor in despair and tears, she cried out to God. How could this happen? The girl was her only child. Her baby.

Trying hard to control her shaky voice, she phoned her pastor and poured out her hurt and anger to him over the problem. He wisely counseled her that, although her situation was truly heartbreaking, God was still in control.

"Don't be discouraged," he said. "There is hope! The Word of God promises that with God all things are possible. This very tragedy can come to a triumphant conclusion when God gets His hands on it."

Eventually, through the prayers and counsel of those who loved her, Lucy's daughter rededicated her life to Christ and was changed.

Are you facing a personal tragedy that seems hopeless? If so, it would be good for you to remember that pastor's counsel to Lucy: "God is still in control. Don't be discouraged. There is hope. With God all things are possible. This very tragedy can come to a triumphant conclusion when God gets His hands on it."

The Bible says, "Thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ" (2 Corinthians 2:14, KJV).

Because of the pastor's words of counsel, based God's Word, no Christian should ever give in to despair. When we give our problems over to the Lord and begin to trust him with total abandon, He can accomplish what appears to be impossible or improbable to us.

"Cast all your care upon him; for he cares for you"  (1Pet.5:7, KJV).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV).

Internet connection

We originally had an ADSL connection with “BabyXL”. This line was in those days less expensive than the others and they offered a similar quality.

After some time “BabyXL” was taken over by “Tiscali”, and from that moment the problems started. At the end we did not even reach 25% of the bandwidth we paid for.

After a lengthy search from about half a year (in which I got full support from our Internet Provider and sponsor “Solcon” They even changed the modem, and did further all they could) the speed came back to 100%. I got the full 8 Mb.  Three days later it was again less, and slowly on it went down further and now we again are 25% below what it should be.

On this I decided to let “Solcon” change the telephone line from “BabyXL” to “KPN”. This unfortunately cannot be done without costs (€ 99.=), but it is against my principles to pay for something I do not receive. I was told that “KPN” is now less expensive than “BabyXL” so we will earn the migration expenses back in time (10 month).

We tell you this because this change could cause that we cannot reach the internet for some time if everything is not going properly at once, and you may not receive Daily Bread on time, or even not at all then.

We of course hope all will go smoothly
